    The extreme risk protection order bill, also known as the red flag bill, is heading to Governor Jared Polis for a signature.

    Mount Crested Butte Mayor Todd Barnes has resigned from his post on the Town Council.

    A bill that aims to dramatically lower the state’s greenhouse gas emissions is scheduled for its first hearing this week at the state Capitol.

    The Colorado House has given final approval to a bill that would give local governments more control over oil and gas drilling operations.

    The state budget is on its way to the House. A last-minute deal to put more money into transportation helped the spending plan pass the Senate quickly on Thursday with wide support.

    The Grand Junction Police Department is reopening a 1975 cold case homicide.

    The Colorado Senate has approved a budget and a controversial "red flag" bill that would allow police in Colorado to temporarily seize weapons from people deemed a risk.

    Lake City Recovers from Historic Avalanche Cycle

    Life is beginning to return to normal for the residents of Lake City in Hinsdale County, Colorado after an unprecedented avalanche cycle in early March wreaked havoc on the town.

    Reporter Christopher Biddle went there to see how citizens and community leaders there are faring, and what they’ve learned from the crisis.

    Meanwhile, climate scientists are predicting a future for Colorado that fits the state’s experience with avalanches in March, and avalanche forecasters are being forced to reassess what they know.

    A bipartisan agreement on Drought Contingency Plan legislation has been reached and Congressional lawmakers plan to introduce it “very soon.”

    The Senate subcommittee on Water and Power heard testimony Wednesday on the DCP. Arizona Senator Martha McSally asked John Entsminger of the Southern Nevada Water Authority why he wants legislation passed soon.

    Governor Jared Polis says the state’s sheriffs have discretion to decide which issues to focus on.
