Rocky Mountain PBS to Air Documentary on Western Professor
October 2, 2018

For decades, it was thought that Folsom cultures, early inhabitants of North America distinguished by expert stone tool-making, were restricted to living on the open plains. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Western Professor Mark Steiger began finding distinctive stone tools atop Tenderfoot Mountain, known locally as W Mountain. Today, it's one of Colorado's most important archeological sites.

Steiger’s discovery, and the students helping him to uncover history, are the subject of a new documentary, Mountain Folsom, directed by another Western professor, Jack Lucido. KBUT’s Christopher Biddle spoke with the filmmaker about his technique and experience directing the film. Disclosure: Lucido serves on the KBUT Board of Directors.

Mountain Folsom airs on Rocky Mountain PBS Thursday, October 4 at 8:30 p.m.
