Location: Gunnison Arts Center Art Studio
Details: Paper-Making with Recycled Materials ~ (Ages 12 - Adult)
Saturday, January 25.  12:30 – 4:30 p.m.  Session # 1:  Paper-Making Essentials.
Saturday, February 1.  12:30 – 4:30 p.m.  Session #2:  3-D Paper Sculpting.
Learn how to make your own paper from recyclables!  In this two-part workshop open to all experience levels, students will learn how to make paper from envelopes, junk mail, discarded wrapping paper, egg cartons and labels that can be found in the home.  Each class is a stand-alone workshop covering a unique process using recycled paper pulp.  Participants can take both workshops or come only to the class that most interests them.  In the first session we will focus on simple paper-making including a brief history, materials, studio set-up, mixing, coloring, sheet forming and using stencils to create unique shapes.  In the second session we will look at sculptural approaches with handmade paper, casting, bas relief and 3-D formation techniques.  Students under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. $45/session or $80 for both sessions.  Minimum 4 students to run each workshop. Gunnison Arts Center Art Studio.  Instructor:  Shannon Lowry.
