How The ‘Grand’ River Became The ‘Colorado’ River

Despite its name, the Colorado River hasn’t always gotten its start in the state of Colorado. Until 1921 the river’s upper reaches were known as the Grand River - which is how Grand Junction and Grand County got their names. As Luke Runyon reports, changing the name of the river was a personal crusade for a legendary West Slope congressman.
