The Goat Lady: Twenty Years of Kids and Goats
August 31, 2017

Wool from cashmere goats is finer, softer, stronger, lighter, and 3 times as insulating than that from sheep. For Gunnison resident Ann Bertschy, cashmere goats are not only a means to make a living, but also a source of life lessons for her and for countless young volunteers in the Gunnison Valley.

Ann lives on Ohio Creek in Gunnison with her herd of more than 150 cashmere goats. For the past 20 years, through a partnership the local chapter of 4H, she has adopted out her yearling goats to be raised by children aged six through teenager.
