Department Of Insurance Approves Rate Hikes

    The Colorado Division of Insurance has approved health insurance premium hikes for 2017. Individual plans are expected to increase by more than 20 percent on average.

    Noxious Weed Plan Presented to CB Council

    The plan should bring the town up to speed with state statute, if it is adopted at this coming Monday night's meeting. If adopted, noxious weed removal and enforcement will become a greater priority for the town on both public and private property.

    Scholarships For Gunnison and Neighboring County Students

    If you live in - or graduated from a school in - Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Minearal, Ouray, Saguache, San Miguel Counties you could be eligible to receive financial assistance through the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative. Western State students are encouraged to visit the Student Services Department, and high schoolers should speak to their counselors about these scholarships. (Photo: COSI)

    Gunnison Airport to Offer Incentives To New & Expanded Service

    Landing fees and terminal fees would be dropped for one year for new airlines or airlines that add additional flights. The goal is to increase profitability to the airline and make the Gunnison Airport more attractive than the next competitor for the limited number of planes available.


    Council OK With Pursuit of RETT Funds For Unpatented Claims on Emmons

    The Town Council voted unanimously to put a measure before voters asking that money from the RETT (real estate transfer tax) be used to repay a potential $2.1 million bond that would go towards the disposal of unpatented claims on Mt. Emmons by the mining company.
