Show Description:
A Classical Gas is a show the features music from the entire 1500 years of the classical genre.  The most basic premise of the show is that classical music should be listened to as entire works and not excerpts.  Only by listening to an entire composition do we hear the composer’s true idea for the piece.  The show usually presents two or three works for solo for small group and concludes with a symphony or toher major orchestral work.

What composers will you hear on your show?
Since classical music is more about the composer than the artist, I will answer the question by saying that you could hear composers from the early baroque period through the modern era.  Since my personal tastes seem to center on the late classical era and romantic era (late 1700s through early 1900s) that will be the greatest emphasis.  To name some composers – Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludvig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Pytor Illich Tchaikovsky, Igor Stravinsky, Ralph Vaughan-Williams, Dmitri Shostakovich, and even John Williams (yes, the Star Wars John Williams)

Final Thoughts?
Classical music is the foundation upon which all other music is built.  Georgian chants gave us the modern method of writing music.  In addition, many of the songs, styles and techniques of classical music can be heard on the more modern genres.  Finally classical music is not dead but lives in the scores of films and other works.  After all, opera is really just Desperate Housewives sung in Italian
