SW Colorado Tourism Summit

Details: The Southwest Colorado Tourism Summit’s brings tourism and hospitality leaders and other businesses from around Colorado to the southwest corner of the state and to provide an opportunity for attendees to learn best practices, exchange ideas and create new partnerships. Activities officially kick off with a welcome reception at 5:00 p.m. on April 23.

The conference continues on April 24 with a networking breakfast, a dozen breakout sessions and keynote addresses by Colorado Tourism Office Director Al White discussing Colorado’s tourism industry, Tom Leydon and Chris Clemens of Denver’s Pilgrim Advertising providing insights about how mobile is changing travel plans. Breakout sessions cover topics such as culinary and agritourism, collaborative marketing, packaged travel, sustainable tourism, attracting international visitors, creating and tracking effective advertising, differentiating a destination to attract visitors, and much more.

The summit wraps up on the morning of April 25 with a keynote by Melanie McBride, senior vice president of public relations and communications strategy with LaneTerralever in Phoenix, discussing new ways to expand a destination’s brand with content marketing, followed by “speed dating” for tourism businesses. These roundtable discussions focus on small business tools, how to get business through events, social media monitoring, using local food trends to build traffic and more. The roundtables will be led by Tour Colorado, Colorado Scenic Byways, Colorado Tourism Office, Destination Colorado, Colorado Welcome Centers, Internet Honey, Miles Media and more.
