Precious Metal Clay Jewelry Crafting
WSCU Extended Studies Course

Add to your calendar
Date: November 26, 5:30 pm
Continues Until:
Location: Art Studio of the Center for the Arts
Details: PMC is 99% pure silver; $45 of the materials goes to the cost of the silver. The rest is for the jewelry embellishments. This is like no other jewelry workshop! Precious metal clay, PMC, is a crafting medium, with the consistency of polymer clay that is comprised of very small particles of metal (in this case silver). The “clay” is used to form beautiful pendants, rings, and earing for jewelry pieces. Once the clay has been shaped to their user’s liking, it is fired in a tabletop kiln. During the firing process, the binder in the PMC burns away, incredibly leaving a 99% pure silver piece. In this four week in-depth class, participants not only create PMC pieces, but they learn how to take those pieces and turn them into finished jewelry. Using their PMC pieces and then incorporating beading techniques and supplies such as crystals, pearls, and natural stones. Students learn to use jewelry findings to complete bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. No experience is necessary and students familiar with PMC and those who are new to the medium are both encouraged to join this workshop. This is a perfect time of year to make a homemade gift for the holidays!
