Add to your calendar
Date: April 24, 7:30 pm
Continues Until:
Location: Western State Colorado University Studio Theatre
Details: The Arabian Nights, adapted by Mary Zimmerman from the medieval epic The Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night, will be presented by Peak Productions April 24-27 at 7:30 pm, and April 28 at 2:00 pm in the WSCU Studio Theatre in Taylor Hall. The production is directed by Dr. Paul Edwards, Professor of Communication and Theatre, with choreography and movement by Crested Butte Dance Collective co-founder Joan Grant.

Experience an evening of love, adventure, eroticism and bawdry as Scheherazade fights to stay alive and restore balance.  After marrying a king whose ritual is to kill his new bride after each wedding night, she puts off her death by telling him tales that have been gathered from throughout the Arabian Empire.   Arabian Nights is a celebration of the richness of traditional Middle Eastern culture, but even more a celebration of life and the human experience.

Admission is $5 for WSCU students with ID and $10 for general admission. Tickets are available at the WSCU Bookstore or one half-hour before the performance in the Studio Theatre lobby. For advance ticket reservations or for more information contact Peak Productions at (970)-943-3013 or by e-mailing peak@western.edu

Please note:  this is NOT the Disney version of the tales, but selections from the original stories.  Some of the material may not be appropriate for anyone 16 or younger.
