The Vagina Monologues
V-Day Crested Butte

Add to your calendar
Date: February 16, 7:30 pm
Location: Center for the Arts Crested Butte
Details: The Center is pleased to present The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler's award-winning play comprised of monologues gathered from women around the world. Performed in Crested Butte on occasion and last seen on our stage in 2010, this year's production is being directed by Jennifer Greene, Roxana Alvarez and Tracy Brooks.

Based on author Eve Ensler’s proving interviews conducted with women from all around the world. The Vagina Monologues is a gathering of honest, funny, and often outrageous stories that give voice to topics rarely discussed with a frank, sober tone in public discourse. Each year, V-Day highlights a specific group of women who are experiencing violence by channeling widespread media attention on them and by raising funds for groups who are addressing the humanitarian crisis through its “Spotlight Campaign.” In 2013, to harness the energy and enthusiasm around V-Day’s 15th anniversary, V-Day will spotlight the one billion women on the planet who will be beaten or raped. This year, 10% of proceeds from V-Day benefits will be directed towards the global campaign, as well as to local grassroots efforts to end gender-based-violence. V-Day will spotlight ONE BILLION RISING by drawing global attention to the U.N. Statistic that one in three women on the planet will be raped, beaten, or mutilated in her lifetime. That's ONE BILLION violated women. Locally, this year's proceeds will benefit The Center for Restorative Practices located in Gunnison, Colorado.

Two showings: Fri and Sat, Feb 15 and Feb 16

Visit V-Day's website to learn more about its cause.

To celebrate The Vagina Monologues's 15th anniversary, join Jennifer, Roxana and Tracy for One Billion Rising on Feb 14, a celebratory dance in front of the ArtNest from 5-6 PM.
