| Become a DJ
All of the DJ's heard on KBUT are volunteers. DJ's program an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, rock, reggae, hip-hop, techno, funk, soul, World, folk, bluegrass and more! On KBUT you'll hear what's new in music from independent and emerging artists, as well as hear your old favorites.
Interested? Contact Josh Elmer, Volunteer and Events Manager, at josh@kbut.org, or call 970-349-5225 ext. 22. You’ll be added to our list for training. We usually coordinate 4-6 persons every four months for a training session. All prospective DJ’s must attend a KBUT Open House. Open House dates are broadcast on KBUT, or you can contact Josh for information. DJ training classes are scheduled at the Open House. There are 2 classes of about 2 hours each that cover the broadcast equipment, FCC rules and tips for programmers. Prospects then work on a demo tape on their time, submit that to KBUT’s Program Director, Erin Roberts, then meet with Erin for an evaluation and to review KBUT’s DJ contract. Then you’re set to do fill-in DJ shifts, or depending on your schedule and KBUT’s needs, you may host your own weekly show. |
