From the 2011 KBUT Winter Newsletter:
We are fortunate here at KBUT to have the best DJs on the planet. Some folks have been volunteering at KBUT for 24 years! Les Choy, or El Chino, is one of those amazing veteran DJs. Keep reading to find out why KBUT is so important to Les Choy in his own words.

“As a performing musician, music plays an important part in my life. But even before I became a musician, as a lad growing up in the S.F. Bay Area I listened to lots of music  and a lot of radio. It always occurred to me how I would do it, avoiding all the stuff I didn’t like about radio and doing all the things that I thought were missing. So when a chance to get on board as a DJ in a wide open, non-commercial format  came up during KBUT’s second week of broadcast, I jumped on it. Over the years I’ve spot-lighted numerous music genres including funk, fusion, world-beat, reggae, acoustic & bluegrass, & jazz. The RadioActive Show now focuses on the Afro-Cuban sounds of salsa & latin jazz, and their relatives. Tune in Wednesday nights at 10:30 for Salsa Y Jazz Con Clave.”
